There is no doubt that it is very fulfilling and self confidence building when you are the right person at the right place and at the right time. In that moment heroes rise up out of the unknown. In that moment peoples lives change and they step into a place where they are doing what they were called to do. People begin to find success where previously there had been failure. In that moment we find out that we are capable of things that we had no clue we could do or were afraid we could not accomplish.
We see these opportunities in every aspect of life. We see them in life and death situations. We find them in war. We see them in politics. They are in our sporting events. We glorify those people who have risen up in these situations in our movies. We even find these moments in our job and in every day life.
Each of these variables (right person, right place and right time) are important but for now I want to focus on having the right timing. You may have all of the training in the world and even arrived at the correct location but of your timing is off then you miss it. The full effect will not be reached. In the 2014 World Cup we have seen time and again players who have missed goals due to their timing being off. They have been highly trained and are in the correct position to score on the field but they time the kick wrong and lob the ball to the goalie or kick it over the goal. The potential was there but the lack of timing caused that potential to not be reached.
We find this same thing in our spiritual walk as Christians. Often when we hear the Lord speak to us concerning something He wants us to do we will quickly prepare ourselves and jump into the assumed location and go for it. Far to often however we forget to wait on God. We get out in our own flesh trying to make happen what we know God called us to. We find this often when God is about to move in revival in an area. As people, who are pressing into God, begin to become aware that God is about to move we see individuals jump out in desire to serve God and try to make it happen right now. This unfortunately will often create a false move of God. One where there is a lot of emotion and feeling but God is not in it. The timing of God is vital in these situations. We need to step back a little and remain in the correct location and continue to practice and train. When God is ready to move we can then step in and find fulfillment in what God wants to do through and in us.
A family friend of mine on several occasions heard The Lord to minister in another country. He would pack up and go there and strive to fulfill what he heard God ask Him to do. Several times he would return home having not accomplished the goal and would feel devastated and broken. Then a year or so later he would a see that very thing come to pass just as he had heard only through someone else who had waited. What had happened is he had missed the timing of God. The man was the correct person. He was well trained, and in the right location but the timing was wrong.
The opposite often will happen as well. All around us we can easily find people who hung back and remained neutral for to long and have missed the opportunity to step into that which the Lord desired to fulfill through them. This often happens when we are unsure that we have accurately heard what the Lord spoke. Other times we are to afraid of mans opinion and do not step up the way we need to.
In Ecclesiastes 5:1 it says it like this..."For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." Ecclesiastes 8:6 also says "For there is a time and a way for everything, although man's trouble lies heavy on him."
Each part of the process is important. This is particularly the case when it comes to staying within the timing of God. When all three come together the fulfillment of Gods plan is fully brought forth. I encourage each of you, once trained and in place, to wait for the timing of God to stop foreword and then fulfill that purpose which God has created you for.
